Chronic stress and tension actually alters brain chemistry and a consistent meditation practice can bring this chemistry back into balance. Boost the immune system, lower your heart rate, bring your blood pressure into balance, increase your lung capacity all through meditation.
In a study published in 2011 by Psychiatry Research; A Neuroimaging team led by Harvard-affiliated researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital reported meditation-produced changes in the brain’s gray matter, linked to anxiety and stress. Magnetic resonance (MRI) Images taken of participants is an eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program found increased gray- matter density in the hippocampus, known to be important for learning and memory, and in structures associated with self-awareness, compassion, and introspection.

The quickest techniques I have found to gain elevation and stop negative emotions are:
- Breathing away stress and tension
- Stretching and moving, stretch it out, yoga!
- Meditating – find your center and nothing can disturb you
- Change your thinking to change your reactions and stop the negative seed from sprouting. (meditation and relaxation work together to help change this thought process)
